Why I Wrote This Blog

Most of my genealogy records, including scanned pictures, documents, letters, etc are now all located on Ancestry.com and  FamilySearch.org .That seemed like the best way to both preserve and share the things I have collected over the years. However, I realize that some may be interested in this information who either don't know about or simply don't use those programs. So this seemed like a good place to back up the basic information. This way anyone who does a search of the names I am researching should be able to find this. Also this blog will allow those who may have questions or want to exchange resources to contact me.

I spent a good long time trudging through cemeteries, cranking old microfilm machines, and writing letters to every relative I could find in order to learn more about this family. Now that I have accumulated a rather fascinating pile of information, I want to be sure that it is stored in such a way that OTHER people can easily get access to it. Also, I want to be sure that among all my scribbled notes nothing important gets tossed out after I am gone.

I do not know who among my kids, grandkids or great-grandkids may be interested in family history. Rather than pick and choose who gets what - this is my legacy to any and all who may be interested in the Baldwin / Burlington / Mack / Van Orden families. They are an impressive bunch and I have been honored to be associated with them through my children's lineage.
